Overview of the role

Gunvor is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Application Support Intern to join our team in Istanbul. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in business application support, working closely with experienced professionals. You will be supporting end-users and assisting in the maintenance of business-critical applications and trading systems covering a variety of energy commodities.

As an Application Support Intern, you will be an integral part of the Business Applications Support Team, collaborating with Business Analysts, DBAs, and Development teams to address user issues and requests from Geneva, London, Tallinn, and other global locations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing 1st and 2nd level support to local and remote users, ensuring timely and effective response within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Support users through various communication channels, including telephone, video conferencing, email, and instant messaging.

  • Log, track, and escalate incidents using Gunvor’s Service Management Tool (ServiceNow).

  • Assist in data manipulation, report generation, and troubleshooting for Front-Office and post-trade users.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of support activities, contributing to the ICT Knowledge Base to enhance future incident resolution.

  • Participate in monitoring and resolving issues proactively, escalating when necessary to the appropriate Resolution Groups.

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of test plans, and participate in system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).

  • Help maintain high customer satisfaction by providing clear communication and regular updates to users on their requests.

  • Support the team in documenting processes and creating guides for end-users.

  • Learn and adhere to ITIL-based service management processes and internal standards.

  • Contribute to a positive and service-oriented environment by continuously seeking ways to improve user satisfaction.

Profile:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related field.

  • Basic understanding of application support or IT helpdesk functions (experience through projects, coursework, or previous internships is a plus).

  • Good command of English (spoken and written).

  • Strong communication skills – ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

  • Proactive and organized – able to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Basic knowledge of ITIL processes and customer service principles.

  • Familiarity with SQL, MS Office (especially Excel), and basic data manipulation is a plus.

  • Interest in commodity trading or financial applications would be an advantage.

  • Team player with the ability to work in a multicultural environment.

  • Problem-solving mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently when required.
