Main Purpose:
As a Copper Trader, you will be responsible for managing copper trading activities, analyzing market trends, executing trades, and maximizing profitability in the copper market. This role involves monitoring global copper prices, supply-demand dynamics, geopolitical factors, and economic trends that influence the copper market. You will work closely with risk management, analysts, and other traders to implement strategies and achieve the company's trading goals.

- Market Analysis: Continuously monitor and analyse global copper markets, including factors such as production levels, geopolitical events, and market sentiment.
- Trading Strategy: Develop and implement trading strategies to take advantage of market opportunities and manage risk.
- Execution of Trades: Buy and sell copper contracts, managing the position in both physical and financial markets.
- Risk Management: Monitor exposure and manage risks related to price fluctuations, and implement hedging strategies to mitigate losses.
- Supply Chain and Logistics Coordination: Work with logistics and operations teams to ensure smooth delivery and settlement of physical copper trades when required.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of trades, market research, and reports on trading performance.
- Client Relations: Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and counterparties, negotiating prices and contract terms as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other traders, risk management teams, analysts, and senior leadership to develop and refine trading strategies
Knowledge and skills
- Bachelorβs degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
- Knowledge of the copper production process and global supply chains.
- Experience with physical and financial copper markets (e.g., futures, options, over-the-counter contracts).
- Multilingual skills or international experience can be a plus.
- Knowledge of risk management strategies and tools.
- In-depth understanding of commodity supply chains including trucking, bulk and container shipments
- 3-5 years of experience in commodity trading, preferably with a focus on copper or other metals.
- Strong knowledge of financial markets, commodity trading, and trading platforms.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market trends and data.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick, informed decisions.
- Trading certifications or a professional qualification in finance (e.g., CFA, CMT) may be advantageous
