Job Description:

Based in our offices in Amsterdam and reporting directly to our Head of Indirect Taxes in Geneva, the C&E specialist will support the Group’s controls in the area of C&E, ensure that relevant C&E considerations are properly reflected in Gunvor’s supply chain, in the new investment opportunities and in the on-going business activities.

The role will be investigating and analyzing the relevant data and C&E regulations to define the most optimal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customs and Excise risk management (overall tax risk mitigation, tax savings, etc.) including the improvement of transactions checks and analysis

• Implementing and maintaining controls regarding non-preferential and preferential origin management (including controls and documentation of certificates of origin) as well as management of products affected by trade sanctions (i.e.: anti-dumping, anti-subsidy)

• Implementing and maintaining controls regarding customs classification of commodities traded by Gunvor

• Supporting and managing the risk related to refinery / terminal operation, licenses

• Internal review/audit of C&E local procedures of group refineries and terminals, as well as third party terminals (if possible)

• Liaise with the IT development team to introduce and enhance C&E related controls within Gunvor’s trading system

• Implementing and maintaining control framework for customs brokers used by the company to assist operational team with local customs compliance work

• M&A related support during the DD and further integration

• Contract review

• Ad-hoc questions from traders, operators

• Collaborate with legal team establishing intercompany agreements with C&E specifics.

Key Requirements:

• Approximately 5-7 years working experience in C&E,

• Experience in a commodity trading company is an advantage

• Broad knowledge of C&E legislation, regulations

• Able to work independently and travel to business locations

• Willing to take initiatives

• Conscious and methodical in approach

• High degree of integrity and sincerity and the ability to inspire confidence

• Ability to understand complex situations with a good eye for details

• Excellent oral and written skills in Dutch and English
